Painting Featured on Pagan Pages

Voodoo priestess

My painting of Voodoo Priestess was featured on the cover of PaganPages.org for this month! Pagan Pages in an online magazine for all things Paganism including reviews, articles and art. I’m grateful to Jennifer, the owner of Pagan Pages, for featuring my art on the cover!

This painting is of a Voodoo Priestess during a ritual. She is in her sacred space with her candles lit and veves painted on the walls. She holds a python over her head while she dances to raise the energy. I wanted to portray the power of ritual and magic in Voodoo ceremony with this piece. You can see in her eyes that she is already in a trance-like state.

This state is where the magic happens, literally. It takes great power, focus and the ability to let go in order to achieve a trance-like state. It also takes practice and repetition. As a priestess myself, I have great respect for practitioners of magic because I know how much work goes into achieving these types of altered states of consciousness!

Thanks again to Jennifer of PaganPages.org! You can find prints and prayer cards of this painting in my shop.
